The CQCD’s 2017 Summit featured several Absolunet clients, including Sportium, Marie Claire and Gosselin Photo.

On October 4th and 5th, Absolunet actively participated in the CQCD’s yearly conference. Alongside clients Sportium, Marie Claire and Gosselin Photo, Absolunet held two keynote presentations and hosted an interactive booth.

Here are some highlights:

Marie Claire Groupe’s San Francisco Boutique sees a 37% increase in conversion for products featuring videos

Martin Delisle, the VP of eCommerce at Groupe Marie Claire and Xavier Jolicoeur, the Associate and Director of Marketing at VIÜ Media presented alongside Romain Tiry, Absolunet’s Director of Consulting and Advisory Services.

The eCommerce concern: 58% of customers say they would buy online more often if they could be sure the item would fit properly.

The eCommerce response: Marie Claire is now including videos as a key feature of their product information.

Preliminary results/hypotheses from the testing phase:
  • Sessions with product video views vs. sessions without product video:
  • Product pages convert 37% more when a product video is featured.
  • Average cart value increases by 80% when a session includes an interaction with a video
  • Video content = more shopping. Those who didn’t see video visited 9.05 pages. Those who did visited 15.59.


Gosselin Photo’s Ambitious Omnichannel Bet

Roxane Lalonde, Director of Marketing and e-Commerce at Gosselin Photo and Jean-Philippe Boudreau, Absolunet’s Senior Director of Digital Growth, led a presentation on Gosselin’s recent omnichannel developments.

Across the board, Gosselin Photo has implemented these 5 omnichannel pillars:

  1. Easy returns across platforms
  2. Up-to-date inventory checks
  3. Buy online, pickup in store
  4. Item reservation online
  5. Online inventories to service the stores

Gosselin Photo has seen an 82% increase in eCommerce sales with the new possibility for customers to purchase online and pickup in store and their new website has tripled sales.

According to the presenters, it is of the utmost importance that any promises about delivery be honored. Otherwise, a retailer’s brand can be irreparably damaged.

Finally, Roxane Lalonde insists that technology should work for the customers, not the other way around.


SPORTIUM, Quebec’s largest sports retailer partnered with Absolunet to create a lounge-like SPORTIUM store environment, including a fully-functional point-of-sale system (installed by our Partner Créatech) which allowed visitors to step behind the counter and scan items to view what an omnichannel backend looks and feels like, including product information on the InRiver PIM.
