Revenue and traffic on the rise for Canadian retailers in 2018
The first quarter of the year was a time of significant growth for Canadian retailers who invested in their eCommerce infrastructures, reports Absolunet’s 2018 Q1 Canadian eCommerce Index, published today by Absolunet, one of Canada’s main eCommerce agencies.
- Revenue is up 46% year-over-year (YoY)
- Mobile transactions grew a whopping 76%
- Conversion rates (CVR) for Canadian retailers rose by 10%
“Canadian consumers continue to shift to digital / omnichannel and strong Q1 KPIs suggest that retailers in the index are positioning themselves well for the rest of the year,” explains Charles Desjardins, Absolunet Partner and Executive Vice President.
In creating the Q1 eCommerce Index for Canada, Absolunet used data from over 30 Canadian merchants and outlined 5 key performance indicators (KPI) for any eCommerce initiative:
- Conversion rate (CVR)
- Transaction volume
- Average Order Value (AOV)
“It is difficult for Canadian retailers to find realistic and credible benchmarks against which they can measure their performance,” said Desjardins. “Which is why we produced the Canadian eCommerce Q1-2018 Index.”
